Meet Our Leadership
May 2024 Message From Principal Delpino
General Message
As the days get longer and stay brighter, our students resist going to bed early. When my children were in grade school, I remember those days and how they resisted waking up on time the next day to go to school. I want to encourage you to help your students get enough sleep to be on time and present to school regularly. We still have about six weeks of important learning to do, which will prevent them from falling behind academically at the next grade level!
Five Interesting Things
- Fourth grade is learning about Japanese Taiko drumming in music. Students are practicing on tire drums in class and will perform on real Taiko drums with River Ridge High School's Taiko group at the multicultural festival next month.
- The 5th graders are raising Rainbow Trout in our classroom. The trout are about 2 inches long and swimming around, starting to eat. The students take turns feeding the fish, helping to clean the tank, and testing the water so that the trout have a healthy environment to grow.
- A local martial arts master is coming to teach students a basic martial arts lesson and the importance of practice, self-discipline, and standing up for others. All students will have an opportunity to engage in this lesson in PE class in May.
- First-graders are learning about telescopes and all the incredible things in the night sky. We are exploring images taken by telescopes and igniting a curiosity about what we can see ourselves in the night sky.
- A local business partner will provide helmets for our 3rd-grade students as part of their bike unit in PE.
